If this were to happen, it would be for the same reason that we failed to meet objectives in Vietnam. Because of the media. After the Tet offensive, reporters showed footage of dead Viet Cong guerrillas, which greatly boosted the anti-war movements in the US. People really do amaze me sometimes. I don't know what people think happens when you go to war, but it's obviously not what they were expecting. People Die! That's it. People are going to die... The American general public is obsessed with political correctness and social acceptability. Here is an enemy that will not hesitate to slit your throat in your sleep, but for some reason we're more concerned about reading them their rights... We've gone soft.

Here's a good article about how the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are using the media and public opinion to their advantage. Have a look.

While I agree with you that the media blows the bad out of proportion and shows non of the good, the above pic was just supposed to be a joke. It did piss me off when I saw it initially but then I just laughed. I do hate how some people are so bent on human rights with people want to tear our heads off. We need to be much tougher and stop pretending like we live in some kind of fairy tale land and not reality.

Exactly. People are just fucking stupid. That's really all it comes down to.
