Two teenage girls have been charged with snatching a seven-month-old baby boy from his sister’s arms and throwing him under a double-decker bus.
The two 14-year-old girls were arrested in the aftermath of the attack on Tavish Dabedeen, who was allegedly snatched from his 13-year-old sister’s arms and hurled under the oncoming bus in Croydon.
The teenage girls, who cannot be named, have been charged with a range of offences after the incident outside West Croydon station on July 27 this year.
Both of the accused girls have been charged with common assault and shouting racial abuse - and one of them an additional charge of causing actual bodily harm.
Baby Tavish miraculously escaped with just minor injuries and bruising after the driver of the bus just managed to avoid him as he landed on the road outside the train station.
It was reported at the time that the two teenagers approached Tavish’s mum and sister - who were not named - before allegedly hurling racial abuse at them.
One of the girls is then alleged to have grabbed little Tavish from his sister’s arm and thrown him into the road in front of the bus.
Bystanders looked on in horror as the terrified family tended to the baby, who sustained injuries to his head and torso but who is believed to have made a full recovery.

Tavish’s father, businessman Rajiv Dabedeen 42, of Croydon, said after the incident: 'I was only minutes away from picking them up when I got the call from the police telling me they had been attacked.
'We were all so relieved when the scans came back from hospital giving Tavish the all-clear, it could have ended much worse.
'In my culture we say every baby has its own angel and our son must have his.'
He added: 'My son could have been killed. My wife and daughter were attacked in broad daylight.
'Tavish is lucky to be alive. He hit his head and had bumps and bruises but he is fine.
'What kind of human being could hurt a baby?'
Both girls, who are believed to attend the same school at Tavish’s 13-year-old sister, have been bailed to appear at Croydon Youth Court on Friday.
