A 20-year-old drag racer died when his body was sliced in half in a horrific accident in New York.
Philip Boney-Scrivano was racing another driver at 100mph along a stretch of road known as 'dead man's curve' on Staten Island just before 2am Saturday morning.
Ahead of the other driver, Boney-Scrivano - who had a male friend as a passenger - reached a bend in the road where two lanes merge into one.

Boney-Scrivano lost control of his car on the bend. He fishtailed for more than 100feet, crashed through a parking meter, and slammed into a telegraph pole.

His body was thrown from the car and hit the telegraph pole with such force that it was sliced in two, the New York Daily News reported.

The out-of-control car - still carrying passenger Jean Carlos, 25 - did not stop there.
It smashed into a petrol pump, causing a spectacular explosion that incinerated the car and Boney-Scrivano's body.
But miraculously firefighters managed to pull Carlos from the blazing remains of the car, reports said.
Covered in severe burns, he was rushed to a nearby hospital - and is expected to live.

'The car isn't even a car anymore,' a witness told the New York Daily News. 'It's a f***ing miracle anyone survived that.'
He was too upset to give his name.

'The boom was so loud it sounded like it happened in my house,' said Jorge Vendrell, 40, who lives a few doors down from the gruesome wreck.
The driver of the second car, Korey Swatz, 33, stopped a safe distance from the accident.
Police arrested him as he gaped at the flames. He was charged with drink driving. Police also believe Boney-Scrivano had been drinking before the crash.

Boney Scrivano had only bought the car five days earlier, for his 20th birthday, it was reported.
'Everyone is shocked,' a family friend was quoted as saying.
'He was a very good kid. Very respectful.'
