Government not doing enough for soldiers, says James Blunt

Former soldier James Blunt (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/related-2113-james-blunt.do) has criticised the Government for its attitude to injured servicemen and lamented the lack of equipment on the front line.
The singer — a former Household Cavalry officer — said not enough was being done to look after the wounded and their families.
He said: “Some of them have given their lives and others have had their lives changed forever. The least we can do is look after them.
“People realise that their anger needs to go towards the politicians who have made the choice of sending them into war. The soldiers do whatever job we send them to, but the Government needs to keep its side of the deal.”
Blunt, 36, pictured, who was in the Army for six years and rose to the rank of captain, is performing at the Help For Heroes concert at Twickenham stadium (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/related-6198-twickenham-stadium.do) on September 12, which is raising money for injured soldiers.
He was in Afghanistan (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/related-475-afghanistan.do) six months ago to visit troops and was stranded with a group of soldiers as aircraft broke down. He said: “That's a really great demonstration of the current situation — we're trying to fight a war where we haven't equipped ourselves.”
