A THUG who threatened to blow up 20 people during a racist rant against white Scots was yesterday jailed for 18 months.
Mohammed Amir launched into a tirade over “haggis munching ginger b******s” after police were called when he beat up his partner.
Amir, 29, made the bomb threat in the presence of a Grampian Police sergeant and three other officers.
The accused, of Aberdeen, was jailed for a string of offences, which included assaulting his girlfriend, Cindy Gordon, three times. He broke her nose during one attack.
A court heard that the thug told officers that he would “gladly” kill them as they tried to apprehend him.
He then launched a torrent of racial abuse at the police officers and onlookers, threatening to blow them all up.
He said: “I’m going to kill 20 of you and blow you to bits.”
During the shocking tirade, he also claimed “white people” had always been jealous of people from Pakistan.
He said: “F*** you, you haggis munching ginger b******s.
“I’m going to bomb you white f*****s. White people have always been jealous of Pakis.”
Amir admitted punching Miss Gordon on the head just hours before making the racist comments on February 11.
He also admitted threatening to stab a taxi driver who tried to intervene as Amir attacked his partner on a separate occasion, on March 16.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard that Amir had grabbed Miss Gordon by the throat and punched her in the face. He also admitted various other offences, including shoplifting, breaching bail conditions, and making racist comments towards police on several occasions.
Labour’s parliamentary justice spokesman, Richard Baker MSP, said the public would be “relieved” that Amir was now behind bars. He added: “This man deserved a custodial sentence and it is important that all racist offences are treated in that way by the courts.
“We have brought in new laws at the Scottish Parliament to deal with race crime, so it is important that the racist elements in offences are taken very seriously by the courts to send out a tough and clear message.
“I think most people in our society will be relieved this man is off our streets.
“It is very important when dealing with race crime that we approach these issues in an even-handed way and that all kinds of racist offences against any ethnic group are treated equally.”
Defence agent Shane Campbell, acting for the accused, said that his client had “serious anger management issues”.
Mr Campbell told the court: “He began to use heroin and his life became chaotic.
“He has a number of issues that require to be addressed.
“He has serious anger management issues when he is confronted by authority.”
