Tony Blair donation 'too late' says Iraq victim's motherThe mother of an Iraq (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/related-701-iraq.do) War victim today branded Tony Blair (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/related-4624-tony-blair.do)'s multimillion-pound donation to wounded soldiers as “too little too late”.

Rose Gentle, whose son Gordon was killed in 2004, said the former Prime Minister's pledge to give the Royal British Legion (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/related-47273-the-royal-british-legion.do) the profits from his memoirs could have “prevented those injuries for the soldiers in the first place”.
However, she conceded that the investment would help veterans receiving treatment at the Legion's Battle Back Challenge Centre.
Mrs Gentle, from Glasgow (http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/related-2585-glasgow.do), said: “It's too late. The money will help a lot of the men and women that need it but I wonder why all of a sudden he wants to put this big donation out to help them.
“Why couldn't he have put money into the forces when they needed it in Iraq when they had a lack of equipment and everything else?”
“I don't think the man has a conscience because he has never apologised. He's never come out and actually apologised to the families and kids who have lost loved ones.
“I think he is doing this just now to make people think he has changed his opinion on the forces.”
